At the height of the Gaellen War, an Orc warlord named Danag Skullreap led a battalion that rampaged across northern Kaerok, defeating armies under Reynald the Convert and Saint Meredith. However, his forces met defeat against a High Elf host near Longbarrow, with thousands dying in the subsequent bloodbath. Danag fled into Durham Forest, where exhaustion forced him to rest — a fateful decision. Dark Elves captured the sleeping Orc and imprisoned him for years, subjecting him to brutal experimentation involving colored liquids, metal grafts, and dark magic. Despite their attempts to control him, Danag's will remained unbroken, and his hatred crystallized into a singular obsession: vengeance against all Elves. When sickness decimated his captors, Danag seized the moment. He overpowered the lone remaining guard, killed him, and freed the other prisoners. After retrieving weapons from the armory, they escaped into the forest. While others fled, Danag stayed behind, determined to hunt both High and Dark Elves. For months he killed hundreds, raiding settlements and eliminating patrols until Elven forces grew too numerous. Danag eventually left Durham Forest and traveled east to the Sorrowlakes to reunite with his people and continue his vendetta against Elves wherever he might encounter them.
